A very quiet and calm day cruising across the Gulf of Carpentaria, in the Arafura Sea. Not much to report today. Just too much time to contemplate the many desserts, decide where to read a book, yes we did both get to the gym, and of course, for those Aussies who cannot get enough of the sport, there was an AFL game last night, and three today. We certainly remain in the lap of luxury.
It is also most apparent we are in the tropics now. In the evening and in the dead of the night, the air temperature (as the sea moderates) remains around 27 degrees.
There were also two movies I saw today. Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. A very confronting movie that was brutal, sad, thought-provoking and more. Not your usual Hollywood ending but certainly pause for thought. Provides that perspective that things do not always go well or end well for some people. The second movie was The Post, a very significant historical anecdote, which as in life had more of a Hollywood, feel-good ending. Also a timely reminder for both the US and us here in Australia, as elsewhere where we seek to maintain democracy and free speech, that a free press is as vital as ever. As the Supreme Court judge was quoted in The Post, the press is there for the governed, not the government.
In terms of today’s picture, it is actually from day 9 as we approach Darwin, somewhere in the Arafura / Timor Sea. Best to slip that in than bore you with a picture of desserts from last night.
