This gorge proved to be a very worthwhile site, requiring a 4WD vehicle to access from the main highway, located some 140 km west of Alice Springs in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Presumably it would not be accessible after a big rain when the creek bed would be water-filled. However, for our visit, we were required to navigate the many rocks and boulders to eventually arrive at the gorge. Not for the infirm or those lacking agili8ty and balance, but a very pleasant reward and serene place, with a swim available for the brave in the very cool water of the billabong there.
As they suggest, bring a flotation device or a wetsuit if you care to float through the gorge gap, else hypothermia mat beckon. Otherwise, just enjoy the view.
