Early start with 30 minute scenic fright …. flight out of Jabiru. Was fine but a bit bumpy and a few anxious passengers. Then stone country travels, indigenous art, wetlands and finishing in Cooinda tonight.
Have also added some repeats from Ubirr given we visited there again to visit the rock art but they are gorgeous, and the time of the day provides a different perspective.
Anbangbang Billabong around Nourlangie and toward the art site of Nanguluwur.
Cahill’s Crossing. Where Kakadu ends and Arnhem Land starts. No white fellas allowed without a permit. This has been Indigenous land since 1931. And if the water don’t get you, the salties just might.
Art at Ubirr.
The town of Jabiru in the background.
Rock art in Ubirr. The image suggests the ‘Tasmanian Tiger’ once lived in these parts but was displaced further south by the arrival of the dingoes, and to their eventual extinction.
