Back in Broome. 20180617

Today was an easy 4.5 hour drive from Fitzroy Crossing to Broome, marking the end of our Gibb River Road trip. We also had to return our 4WD hire vehicle, it being a new Mitsubishi Pajero which performed very impressively and reliably for us, on and off road. We are now car-less for several days, so relaxation is now on the agenda.

With regard to our last destination, the Fitzroy River was the most impressive, even though it is now largely dry. How mighty it must be in the thick of the wet season. Pictures below are of the Fitzroy River as well as our overnight location by the river, in among the many euros that scamper about at dusk and dawn.

Early morning at our campsite by the Fitzroy River at Fitzroy Crossing.

Fitzroy River looking downstream from the main bridge, also looking toward our campsite in among the trees on the right. The next image is same River same bridge but looking upstream soon after sunrise.

At the risk of repetition, I have again included images of the Fitzroy River from our balcony at Fitzroy River Lodge, just to see the contrast of colours, being respectively, late afternoon, dusk, and early morning. As is so typical in this part of Australia, the colours and contrasts change as the day ebbs and flows. So beautiful.
