Whistler village
Arrived Whistler the previous day, after ferry from Vancouver Island. Very pleasant cruise for 90 minutes, then back on the bus that came across with us. Mild weather as we arrived. Dinner out at our accommodation’s restaurant, in the company of a couple from the Sunshine Coast.
Next day were hopeful of gondolas in the morning and scenic helicopter flight in the afternoon. Alas the latter was cancelled due to inclement weather while the morning’s gondola rides were somewhat foggy. However, we returned for further rides in the afternoon and there was some opening up to appreciate the views. Some snow and ice still on distant mountains and the peak of Whistler Mountain.

Cloudy in the morning.

Some improvement in the weather with a break in the clouds in the afternoon.

Some rugged distant mountains all around.

Our mode of transport on the Peak to Peak gondola. Seats 22.

And when you cannot ski, let’s enjoy some downhill mountain biking!
Our day ended with a wander around the Village, a pie for lunch, an ice-cream, bought chocolate (yum) and finished with a coffee nearby. Plenty of that. A very relaxed place but not cheap, apparently starting around $1000 per night for accommodation in the peak season. Great facilities for sure though, and many Aussies working here.
So, worth a visit, and if you could afford it, would be wonderful on a blue-sky day skiing in the Winter. But now, adios to Whistler.
