Day one of our special holiday. How privileged are we. Parked at the Brisbane Port facing east.
Had an uneventful drive down from the Sunshine Coast on M1. Lots of roadworks around the Brisbane end and up to the Gateway Bridge over the Brisbane River. Will be a considerable road network once completed. Port just adjacent to the Brisbane airport but south side of the river, and close to the mouth leading into Moreton Bay.
Smooth sailing a few hours in. Weather cool, a little rain around. Expect to be 24 degrees tops on Coral Sea tomorrow. As we approach the open sea, now that very gentle rolling that becomes the norm for future days.
Resisted dessert tonight. Wonder how long that will last! One cocktail tonight but that’s it. Could be an early night, and hopefully up early to visit the gym. The is the plan, the reality can be determined in the morning. One day at a time, so some say.
Had a lovely sunset tonight and we enjoyed the view from our port-side position and balcony.
My sporting highlight for today (for those who care) was Utah’s series win against OKC (NBA). Great effort.
Seems mostly Aussies on-board, with older-demographic. We almost feel young in such company, although walking the stairs reminds me of my ascending age.
Now some days with limited Internet and mobile phone access. How refreshing that can be. Will have to save the next posts for Cairns around Thursday next week. Meantime, au revoir!
View back to Brisbane facing west. Bon voyage! We are off. Next stop PNG after two days at sea.
