A truly beautiful and spectacular garden in full bloom!
Wow. Just wow! So much colour. So many colours. Such a luxurious setting, with the sunken garden (as above, built in an old quarry adjacent, then the Japanese, the Italian and other gardens. For us to to see, on a blue sky day, early morning, before the usual throng of tourists.
Near Victoria, on Vancouver Island, Canada. We are now starting to ramp up the spectacular. Gardens may not be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ but this one was out of the box. Still maintained by the descendants of the lady who made it all happen, Jenny Butchart, in the early 1900’s. Something like 50 odd full time gardeners, helping this special place look truly superb. So enjoy the view.

Gorgeous trees too!

Ponds with lily pads.

And of course the luscious lawns, helping to provide the colour contrast.

The walkways arched in colour and hedges.

The Italian garden around the old residence.

Various sculptures, water features and the so finely trimmed hedges.

Flowers everywhere, if not in garden beds, in pots and adorning the house.
