Imintji to Mt Elizabeth Station. Three gorges. 20180608

A big day exploring three gorges on our route today. Yet it was sad to leave our accommodation and our short term friends who we shared dinner with last night and breakfast this morning. Nevertheless, we managed to fit in Adcock Gorge, Galvans Gorge and Manning Gorge. Managed a swim at each location, being the usual cool yet refreshing experience. Adcock was so pretty but a little tricky getting in both by road and walk. In most cases, care is required negotiating the many rocks, on the roads, on the paths and in the rock pools. Galvans was easy access from the GRR and it was possible to sit under the waterfall there. Not so Adcock which had a deep pool at its bottom.

Manning Gorge was our last stop after some food at the Mt Barnett roadhouse for fuel and a permit to enter the private land. Unfortunately we were too late to proceed to the falls there, requiring quite a long and challenging walk, but we did have a very nice swim at the beach-like area near the camping ground, as shown below.

By the time we made it to our accommodation at Mt Elizabeth Station, the sun had nearly set and aside from the rough road in, we were also battling the low sun in our eyes, looking through a dusty windscreen and dodging animals emerging at dusk. Thankfully we arrived unscathed and later enjoyed a three course meal. Very nice, although the accommodation and a shared shower / toilets were modest but fine.

More ‘war stories’ shared over dinner, places to visit, things to be careful of, and tales of tyre blowouts, sharp rocks and so on. All good information though as recent local knowledge is so important,  each and every day, in this region.

Early to bed then, satisfied and excited with today’s adventures and experiences.

Adcock Gorge in the walk in, with several pretty lily ponds. Ditto second image below.

Adcock Gorge rock pool and waterfall. Not a lot of water falling. The water was cool but so invigorating and clean, as they mostly all are. The first swim of the day.

Galvans Gorge and waterfall. This you could nudge under and get a free water massage for neck and shoulders. Note the second picture side on at Galvans Gorge and the strange creature pof Rochdale on the rock. Zoom in to see the optical illusion. Just happenstance, not clever photography!

Swimming area at Manning Gorge, although the waterfall are a long challenging walk away, first over this Creek (swim it or take the rope pulley punt) and then walking shoes and off you go. We were too late but as the mantra goes, ‘you cannot see everything’.
