Arrived at our camping spot in Broome’s Roebuck Bay (faces south east with Cable Beach on the other side of this small peninsula, facing west), a few kilometres out of town, just after lunch. We completed our third straight day driving so now have a few days to chill and plan our next leg of travels into the heart of the Kimberley.
This venue was unplanned but the site is beautiful as the picture below shows. The tide is going out now, with a very large tidal range in the order of 8-9 metres. We had thought of checking out the sights today in Broome but decided instead to just stay here and enjoy the very special ambience. Leave that for tomorrow.
So a quiet day today, weather fine with a top of about 30 degrees, with warm nights. Our van is still together although there have literally been some loose screws needing some attention in the last caravan park, given the accumulated rocking, rolling and shaking on this trip. We hand Boris back tomorrow Monday before we pick up our next vehicle, being a 4WD, on Tuesday. The Gibb River Road trip starts this Wednesday.
And the same Beach after sunset with the water receding.
On the beach after sunset viewing our campsite for today. It is rather pleasant. In the background you can see our campervan, second from the right next to the white land cruiser.
And of course, I had to catch an image of the iconic boab tree. This was in close proximity to the beach and our camp. They are rather impressive and their trunks are so sturdy.
