Coral Bay day 3. 20180524

Just a lazy day to reflect, relax and rest. Weather fine, light breeze. Plenty of sap droppings on our vehicle from overnight condensation. Let’s hope for rain and strangely someone said there is some forecasted for tonight. Will believe that when we see it as we have not seen rain since we returned to Australia from PNG over 3 weeks ago.

My reflection last night is how fortunate are we to be able to idle our time away gazing at manta rays and diving on the Ningaloo Reef. We are lucky indeed. The other reflection was on how we need to overcome our fears to get things done or experience new situations. Both of us did a bit of that yesterday. In the ocean with its many unknowns, trusting your equipment and yourself to breathe below the surface, and trusting you will be just fine. We were, grateful for that, and invigorated by it. A very good day.

Below are some of the professional underwater shots provided by our on-board cameraman. Neither of us may have seen everything he pictured although it gives you an idea of some of the things we did see and appreciated. Certainly our manta ray experience was akin to these images, as well as the coral and fish we saw.

With regard to the turtle, it is interesting that they are so vulnerable on land when hatched, so ungainly at any age on land, but in the water they fly and move so gracefully. Maybe we all need to find our own safe environments where we too can fly. Too bad about the strange human below and his poor turtle impression. Not in the same league!

Thanks to Tom for the images below which are appropriately watermarked and will be attributed in the future if used elsewhere or cropped.
