Longreach. A fair dinkum place way out west.

A must do place to visit. And a great gateway to so many other wonderful Australian outback adventures. I look forward to my next road trip through Longreach. It does get hot here in the summer, but is mild and even cool in the Winter (especially overnight).

Longreach. Famous for the Stockman’s Hall of Fame. Well worth a visit.
The highlight of my recent visit to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame was the very funny, informative and entertaining show put on by Lachie. Highly recommended.
Nice town too, with the beautiful railway station. Passenger trains run twice weekly to Rockhampton on the coast.
Then there is the nearby Thomson River, with plenty of water in it this time given recent rains. Apparently the evening cruises are most worthwhile.
Longreach street art and some streetscape.
Longreach. The QANTAS connection with the QANTAS museum there. In the early days, Longreach was the base of QANTAS, although it was actually founded in nearby Winton. If you visit this museum, for some extra bucks, you can walk on the wing of this jumbo, even jump up and down and feel the strange flexion experience.
And if you fly to Longreach now, fair chance you may arrive on one of these 76-seaters.
